Must Have Breastfeeding Products

Sharing is caring!

As a new mom, I know how hard breastfeeding can be. After breastfeeding many little ones, I’ve rounded up a list of must-have breastfeeding products for you, mama! It’s a hard job and sometimes the simplest products and resources can make that job a little easier.

Breastfeeding Essentials

For those of you that are struggling with ties as well, I know you’ll find this list useful. I know how hard it is to try and breastfeed when your child has a tie. So many doctors appointments, latching becomes a problem, and even weight can begin to drop. The struggle is real. I know. I’ve been there. This list is made with you in mind, mama. It not only includes basic products that every breastfeeding mama needs, but those that are going through some latch issues from ties, as well.

I really hope this list helps you through your journey with your new babe.

Spectra Baby USA Double/Single Breast Pump with Rechargeable Battery, 3.3 PoundSpectra Baby USA Breast Pump

Spectra Baby USA Breast Pump

Let me just say – this pump is the most outstanding piece of equipment you will EVER buy! It has a closed system meaning milk does not flow through the tubing (which can ruin your pump and be hard to clean). When we went through having to supplement due to a lip tie we tried out countless breast pumps. This is the only pump that came close to the Medela Symphony. It empties your breasts in half the time any other pump does! It’s amazing. This hospital grade pump is quiet, customizable, and has all the much-needed functions.

Simple Wishes Signature Hands Free Breastpump Bra, Pink, XS-LargeHands-Free Breastpump Bra

Hands-Free Breastpump Bra

Those first few weeks with my daughter after her lip tie revision were ROUGH. I felt like all I could do was nurse and pump. I was ready to throw the towel in and go over completely to formula. A hands-free bra is what saved my sanity. With this bra, I was able to take care of life and work while we were having to supplement.

Lansinoh TheraPearl 3-in-1 Hot or Cold Breast Therapy, 2 CountLansinoh TheraPearl 3-in-1 Hot or Cold Breast Therapy

Lansinoh TheraPearl 3-in-1 Hot or Cold Breast Therapy

These are wonderful when breastfeeding gets a bit uncomfortable. The hot relieves mastitis, plugged ducts, and encourages let down when used with a pump. The cold relieves the pain from being engorged with full breasts. This is especially helpful in the first weeks of having your newborn and your milk is coming in. That is a painful time and this therapy pack is a HUGE help to finding pain relief.

RaZbaby JollyPop Baby Pacifier Newborn, 0-3m, TEAL, Double pack JollyPop Baby Pacifier

JollyPop Baby Pacifier

These pacifiers are the same ones the hospitals use and for good reason! Jolly Pop pacifiers have a round shape to them that is so beneficial for breastfed babies. If your baby will not take any others, try these! After my daughter’s revision, we used these for sucking exercises and they helped a ton.

Breastflow Milk Storage OrganizerBreastflow Milk Storage Organizer

Breastflow Milk Storage Organizer

If you have breastmilk to store, finding a way to organize it in your freezer will save your sanity. Trust me – it’s no fun to go digging through the freezer trying to find the dates on your unorganized milk bags.

Silicone Breast Pump for Breastfeeding with Lid - 100% Food Grade BPA-Free Manual Hands Free Milk Breastpump by Ashtonbee Hands-Free Milk Breastpump by Ashtonbee

 Hands-Free Milk Breastpump by Ashtonbee

While this is technically a breast pump, I find it works great as a drip cup. It’s common to have your breasts start to drip or leak while feeding on one side. A drip cup comes in handy but I think this pump works the best! It’s a suction so you place it on the side you won’t be feeding on and go about nursing. It will collect milk on its own as it drips. It’s pretty wonderful to have! If you are not wanting to increase your milk supply DO NOT use this as a drip cup.

Medela Supplemental Nursing SystemMedela Supplemental Nursing System

Medela Supplemental Nursing System

So…I had a definite love/hate relationship with this little tool. It was messy and difficult to use, BUT it kept baby on the breast while we supplemented with formula which helped get my milk supply up and avoided nipple confusion. If you are having to supplement with your child it is definitely worth checking out, just know this is not a product for everyone.

mimijumi breastfeeding 2 Packmimijumi Breastfeeding Bottle

mimijumi Breastfeeding Bottle

As far as bottles, this will be the ONLY one you ever get. With babies with ties, you may end up using a bottle at some point. This bottle is made with breastfeeding in mind. It allows baby to control the flow better while you pace feed, accurately mimics your breast so they don’t have nipple confusion, reduces colic by keeping air out, and they’re completely safe since they’re free of chemicals. We LOVE these bottles and can’t recommend them enough!

Similac For Supplementation Non-GMO Infant Formula with Iron, Powder, 23.2 OuncesSimilac For Supplementation

Similac For Supplementation

With our tie, we had to supplement with formula while I worked on rebuilding my supply. After trying multiple formulas and having gassy issues with each one we found this formula through our ICBLC. I had no clue that they made formula specifically for supplementation so I thought it was a neat find 🙂

Natural Nipple Butter

Chapped nipples are no fun. This lanolin-free nipple butter is non-sticky, safe to use before breastfeeding, and designed to bring your nipples back to their happy place!

Post-Partum Lying in Plan

Acknowledging the realities and expectations of a modern mama with the realities of a healing postpartum body and the expectations of a brand new baby is hard. This free Lying in Plan is a fantastic guide to help expectant mamas through thinking about their own healing and to make the most of the postpartum rest time they have.

bamboobies Reusable Nursing Padsbamboobies Reusable Nursing Pads

bamboobies Reusable Nursing Pads

Leaky boobs are just a fact of life when you are breastfeeding. Reusable super absorbent pads that will not irritate your nipples are kinda a big deal, and these do just that. After breastfeeding 4 kids and trying out tons of different breast pads out there on the market, these are hands down my favorite.

Ergobaby Natural Curve Nursing Pillow Plus Cover, Heathered GreyErgobaby Natural Curve Nursing Pillow

Ergobaby Natural Curve Nursing Pillow

My absolute favorite nursing pillow is no longer on the market and this pillow is the closest thing to it. It’s not an absolute need, but your arms will thank you for having a nursing pillow readily available.

I hope you can make life just a little easier with these must-have breastfeeding products! I know they have really helped me and my babies and am certain they will help you too, mama!
