Random Acts of Kindness Printable Journal

Sharing is caring!

When your child was born, did you think they’d grow up to be an astronaut?

Or maybe a ballerina?

Did you picture a football star bringing home the big trophy or maybe a firefighter saving the day.

But what about kind?

I mean, of course you will raise your kid to be kind, right? But that’s not typically what people think about when they imagine raising their kids…

For me, though, it’s paramount. I don’t care if they grow up to be doctors, lawyers, teachers, or grocery clerks, but I do care that they grow up to be kind. That’s why I’m teaching my kids to make a difference with this RAOK Journal.

Random Acts of Kindness for Kids

Teaching Kids to Make a Difference With This RAOK Journal

With this journal your kids will be able to map out their own unique RAOK’s to make a difference in their community and around the world.

But first…

What is a RAOK? {Random Act of Kindness}

RAOK stands for Random Act of Kindness, which is exactly as it sounds. It’s a random action that anyone does to be kind to another person. It could be as simple as letting your little brother pick their favorite movie, even if it isn’t your favorite, or paying for the car behind you in the Starbucks drive-thru.

Random Acts of Kindness can completely transform someone’s day.

Even something as simple as a smile to a stranger that looks like they’re having a rough day can make a huge impact in your community.

Why are ROAK’s Important for Kids?

A RAOK doesn’t just improve the day for the person on the receiving end.

Teaching kids to seek out opportunities to be kind to others is a life skill that will change their lives. I truly believe that we aren’t meant to “toughen up” our kids for the world, but we’re supposed to raise them to be kind so that maybe kids won’t have to be “toughened up” at all. Teaching Random Acts of Kindness while our kids are young helps make kindness the norm.

Kids Can Make a Real Difference in their Communities and Around the World

While a Random Act of Kindness can definitely be a small action, it can also make a real difference in your community and around the world. My daughter’s class is raising money to provide drinking water to kids in Jamaica. They’re learning that just a small contribution from them can completely change the life of another person.

We decided to do something ourselves…

Actually, it was Livia’s idea.

She told me, “Mom… My class is getting water for the kids in Jamaica, but do you think they have books to read?”

Reading is one of Liv’s favorite things in the world, and the idea of kids not having access to books was heartbreaking to her. So she decided to do something.

I was so proud as she started counting her money from her own wallet.

“Is this enough, Mom?”

“It sure is…”

We went to the bookstore, which is sometimes challenging with Livia’s sensory struggles, but she was on a mission. She picked out all of the books she could with what was in her wallet, and she couldn’t wait to bring them to her school to show her teacher.

And really, all of our kids can learn how to use Random Acts of Kindness to make an impact!
