Sand Slime

Finding fun ways to play with slime is becoming a bit of a mission for my kids. It is such a quick and easy activity that leads to hours and hours of fun. This Homemade Sand Slime was put together after a trip to our local nursery. We picked up a bag of sand with the intention of building a worm hotel, and so far we have done a handful of other activities using that bag. This one though just might be my favorite.

How to Make Sand Slime

  1. Add a good amount of sand to your plastic bin. There is no right or wrong amount. I added in two overflowing handfuls.

  2. Dump the entire bottle of glue in. Should be about 1 cups worth.

  4. Pour in 1/2 cup of liquid starch. Mix.

As you mix in your sand the slime will start to thicken. It usually takes about 15 minutes until it no longer sticks to hands.

Exploring Sand Slime

Is it a liquid or a solid? Will it bounce? Is it wet or dry? Does it make any noise? How far can it stretch before it breaks?

And it’s super fun to squish!

Slime keeps for a couple of weeks if you store it covered and play with it often!
