Chocolate Caramel Rice Krispie Treats

Chocolate Caramel Rice Krispie Treats

Ingredients

  • 24 Geotze’s Caramels
  • 10 oz. can of condensed milk
  • 6 oz. semisweet chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons corn syrup
  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 4 cups marshmallows
  • 6 cups rice krispie cereal
  • Vanilla to taste
  • Sprinkles as desired

Instructions

  1. Making these rice krispie bars is extremely simple. Make your rice krispie bars following a classical recipe of melting your butter (4 tbsp) and marshmallows together over low heat, then once melted pour and stir into your rice krispie cereal and allow to cool down.
  2. What makes these bars special is the layer of chocolate and caramel that cover them in gooey goodness. To make your topping you will start by melting 24 pieces of Geotze’s Caramels.
  3. Cook them over low heat with your condensed milk. You are going to want to stir constantly so that your caramels do not burn or boil.
  4. As your caramels melt they will clump. You want your syrup to remain as smooth as possible to prevent burning. As it starts to get clumpy and sticky add in one tablespoon at a time of butter. I typically use 2-3 tablespoons of butter throughout this entire process.
  5. It does require your constant attention, but this goes fairly quickly and is for the most part simple. Once all of your caramels are melted your syrup will look fairly smooth. Add in your semisweet chocolates, vanilla, and corn syrup.
  6. And stir until completely melted and smooth. Remove from heat and pour evenly over your rice krispie treats.
  7. At this point your rice krispie bars are going to be extremely sticky. Set aside to let them cool.
  8. Once cooled top with sprinkles, serve, and enjoy!
