Step-by-Step Instructions for Your Piggie Paper Plate Craft
This craft is full of giggles, paint splatters, and creative fun! Whether you’re at home or in the classroom, this step-by-step guide will turn your little one into a Piggie pro in no time. Let’s get crafty!
Step 1: Set Up Your Craft Zone
Before we dive into the fun, let’s get our craft zone ready! Lay out all your supplies on a clean, flat surface. You might want to cover the table with newspaper or a tablecloth (just in case we get a little too excited with the paint!). If you’re working with younger kiddos, you can cut out some of the shapes in advance to keep things moving.
Quick Tip: Throw on some old clothes or an apron. Crafting can get a little wild, and we want to make sure no one’s favorite shirt gets messy!
Step 2: Paint Piggie’s Face
Alright, grab that paper plate and let’s get painting! Slather it all over with that beautiful dark pink paint. Make sure to cover every part of the plate. It’s going to be Piggie’s fabulous face! Once you’ve got it painted, set it aside to dry for about 10–20 minutes.
Speedy Trick: If you’re in a hurry, place the plate in front of a fan or near an open window to dry faster!
Step 3: Create the Ears and Snout
While your plate is drying, let’s get working on Piggie’s ears and snout! Grab that white and light pink construction paper and cut out:
Two triangles for the ears (from the white paper)
One oval for the snout (from the light pink paper)
Now, take those white ear triangles and paint them dark pink to match Piggie’s face. Let everything dry, and you’re one step closer to making Piggie look even cuter!
Step 4: Put Piggie’s Face Together
Time to bring Piggie to life! Here’s how:
Glue the ears to the top of your paper plate. Give them a little press so they stick just right.
Attach the snout right in the center of the plate. A good squirt of glue will do the trick!
Now, grab that black marker and go wild. Draw Piggie’s eyes, add little nostrils to the snout, and don’t forget a huge, happy smile! Piggie’s personality is coming out!
Let the glue dry for a few minutes, and ta-da! Piggie is all set for her big debut! You and your little one have just created the cutest Mo Willems character, and you’ll have a blast showing her off. Ready for storytime? Piggie’s ready for their close-up!
