Looking for an easy paper plate craft to do with your kids? This paper plate seahorse kid craft is an easy craft to add to your ocean preschool activities!

There are so many great ocean books for preschoolers that you can pair with this paper plate craft! For this particular craft we read Over in the Ocean: In a Coral Reef by Marianne Berkes but this seahorse craft would also pair really well with Mister Seahorse by Eric Carle.

Supply List:

Instructions:

Draw the shape of a seahorse onto a paper plate using the printable template.

Cut the seahorse shape from the paper plate. For younger children we included a link above to scissors that are great for helping them maintain control over the scissors. This seahorse does require a great deal of scissor control so toddlers and preschoolers will most likely need help with this step.

Paint the seahorse with bright colors of paint. Allow the paint to dry completely.

Add glue to the seahorse. Decorate with glitter. If glitter is banned in your home or classroom use glitter glue or larger items like tissue paper, sequins, or craft gems to decorate your seahorse. You could even use bubble wrap with paint (like we did on our paper plate dinosaur) or our DIY paintbrushes to add decorations.

Allow the glue to dry completely and then shake off the excess glitter.

Glue a googly eye onto the seahorse.

Your craft is finished! Hang it up for all to see!
