Have ya’ll ever put Ivory Soap in the Microwave? If not this is something that you have to do with your kids! What happens is absolutely amazing! Putting soap in the microwave for various activities is currently one of my kids favorite past time activities.
For those of you that have never seen what happens we made a short film. Livia really wants to get into editing videos and while it is a tad shaky I think she did an awesome job!
While color seems like a super simple to us, for a young child color is a pretty complicated concept. For a minute put yourself in their shoes. They are just starting to learn terms of the items in their ever day lives such as shoes. Now the game is being upped because shoes are not just shoes. There are red shoes, and blue shoes, and green shoes. And well colors come in multiple different shades. So those dark blue shoes and those light blue shoes are both exactly the same general color even though they don’t look the same. Confusing stuff people.
So, as you start learning colors with your child have patience and make it fun. Activities such as this red sensory bin are a great way to start introducing colors in a playful stress-free manner.
Fall is by far one of my favorite seasons. It is just absolutely magical. The crisp air, changing leaves, scents of cinnamon and apples, and of course the pinecones. You can’t forget the pinecones. Every day when we go on our walk whether it be to the park or to pick Livia up from school, Meatball goes on a hunt for pinecones. Every day – it never fails. So far we have found at least 4 different types of pinecones. He is absolutely fascinated with them. So I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to squeeze them into one of our afternoon activities!
