This summer so far has been filled with a crazy amount of unexpected traveling! This has translated to a lot of time spent in the car while road tripping across the Midwest. While driving across the Midwest can be beautiful (it is so incredibly green!) there also isn’t much to look at and discuss other than the cows…
Which my kids quickly turned into a game “Mixed Up Animals” (Zebra-potamus anyone)? This Moo Mix is a simple trail mix that was designed to feed into my children’s imaginative game while providing a travel friendly snack!
Mixed up animals was an absolutely hilarious game to observe my children play. This was also an amazing game to help Meatball with his language development as it got him creatively finding ways to express which animals he was pretending to be…although we did end up with a lot of moo-trucks from him…that can be an animal right?
To play this game my kids mixed animal sounds with animal movements. Using a charade of both as hints the other player was then assigned the task of guessing which animal the other child was acting out. This game was filled with so much laughter!
One of the things that I adore about this snack is that it fed into my children’s imagination. This simple trail mix would be the perfect addition to any farm life unit, school lunches, or an afternoon snack. This moo mix is also an awesome was to reinforce the concept of making healthier choices in my children. With 2 grams of protein per serving and made with real organic wheat and cheese, this is a snack I know can keep up with my kiddos!
