The final school bells have rung, the heat is rising, and the days are getting longer. Summer is officially here! While summer is a chance to kick back and soak up some quality family time, it also is an incredibly busy season for many families. It’s amazing just how many activities can be packed into those three months!

When your family is on the go keeping up with everyone (and everything) can be a bit of a headache. To add some simplicity to our life our kids wear these easy DIY phone number bracelets and carry a Verizon cell whenever we are out and about!

Easy DIY Phone Number Bracelets

One of the first things that we do every summer is design our phone number bracelets for the year. Ever since the year that we almost lost Livia in a crowd at Sea World, my kids have been required to wear these whenever we are out and about. Due to the wear and tear of these we replace them every summer.

Items Needed for a DIY Phone Number Bracelet:

Finding the number beads is a HUGE hunt every year. I don’t know why they are so difficult for us to find. This year we had luck tracking them down at Hobby Lobby, although they are also easily available on Amazon.

How To Make:

Making these DIY bracelets is pretty self explanatory. Measure the string to the size of your child’s wrist and thread your beads on in the order of your phone number. This activity is also a great chance to have kids work on their fine motor skills and number recognition!

These bracelets can serve so many more purposes than helping lost kids. My kids have used these when on sleep-overs, while out at sporting events, and even when setting up their own play dates with friends! They are a great way for helping kids who are just starting to learn their phone number!

Don’t Forget to Share a Cell:

When your family is out and about there are going to be times that your kids might need to call you…and well, phone booths aren’t really a thing anymore. I don’t know about you, but I cannot recall the last time I have actually seen one outside of Doctor Who!

Because of this we have a family phone that stays with our kids. This is used if they go to a friends house, if they have a soccer or baseball game, or even if we do something like an amusement park or zoo visit.

Keeping a phone such as the DROID Turbo by Motorola in Gray Ballistic Nylon readily available to our kids greatly helps reduce the stress involved in the busyness of daily life.
