Rainbow Fruit Pizza: Fun Kids in the Kitchen Activity!
Fruit pizza has been forever one of our favorite snacks. It is quick to put together, easy on the wallet, and for the most part pretty healthy. It is also a lot of fun for exploring different types of fruits, patterns, colors, counting…the options on what you can do with fruit pizza are pretty endless!

For this particular rainbow fruit pizza we decided to switch it up with a fun new twist!

Ingredients Needed for Rainbow Fruit Pizza:

{printable recipe at bottom of post}

  • 5-6 different types of fruit in ROYGBIV (see our choices below)
  • 8 oz. Cream Cheese
  • 2 cups Greek Yogurt – Plain
  • a splash of Vanilla Extract (this is the only vanilla I use)
  • 2 packages of pre-made refrigerator cinnamon rolls (generic works best)
  • Marshmallows if desired
  • Cinnamon Sugar as desired

Fruit Needed for Rainbow Fruit Pizza

When it comes to fruit choices for fruit pizza there are a ton of options! One of the most popular for green is kiwi –which I am deathly allergic to…so we had to go grapes there. If the kids had it their way it would have been kiwi 😉

Our Fruit Choices:

Red: Strawberries
Orange: Mandarian Oranges
Yellow: Pineapple
Green: Green Grapes
Blue/Purple: Blackberries

YUM! This fruit tray could easily be a fun snack on it’s own!!

Putting Together Your Fruit Pizza:

Creating your fruit pizza is incredibly easy! To start preheat your oven and open up your cinnamon rolls. Unroll each cinnamon roll and cinnamon side up shape them into a rainbow on a large baking tray {you will probably want to spray with some sort of nonstick spray}.

Rainbow Shaped Cinnamon Roll

One cinnamon roll is not going to be long enough to make an entire rainbow strip for your fruit pizza. Because of this you will need to mesh two strips together here and there. It is super simple, just use your fingers to press the two strips together. If a strip ends up being too long break it off at the end of your rainbow and start on the next line.

Meshing Cinnamon rolls together for fruit pizza

Once your rainbow shape is created take a second to make sure all the strips are meshed together. Sprinkle with additional cinnamon sugar as desired (a lot is probably sticking to your hands at this point) and pop in the oven as directed.

While that bakes mix the yogurt, cream cheese, and vanilla extract in a bowl to be used as your icing.

Icing the Cinnamon Roll Rainbow Fruit Pizza

Once done let it cool for a couple of minutes (until pan is no longer hot), grab some spatulas, and cover that pizza with your cream cheese fruit dip!

Kids Decorating Rainbow Fruit Pizza

Kids will have a blast adding on the toppings! Our strawberries became cars which VROOM’d up and down the track only to stop at the end to be counted…

Rainbow Fruit Cake

It was a lot of counting! …and taste testing 😉

If you struggle to get a fruit to stick (our blackberries were a bugger) use additional cream cheese fruit dip as “glue”.

Rainbow Fruit Pizza

It tastes even more delicious than it looks!
