Pom-Pom Squish Bags: Squish bags are a wonderful way for kids to have a squishy, gooey sensory learning experience without the mess! We love using our squish bags to work on color identification, size sorting, and early math concepts!
Squish bags only take about 5 minutes to set up, are easy to take with you wherever you go, and are great fun! Ours lives in my purse and ALWAYS does it job of distracting my kids when we need to buy some time!
Items Needed for Pom-Pom Squish Bags:
- Pom-Poms
- Heavy Duty Sandwich Bag
- Duct-Tape
- Glitter
- Clear Dish Soap (we use Eco-Me Lemon Fresh to add in an AMAZING all-natural scent)
How to Create Your Pom-Pom Squish Bag:
Fill a heavy duty sandwich baggie with about one inch deep with your clear dish soap.
Pour in the glitter!
Pick out an assortment of pom-poms in different sizes and colors and add them to the squish bag.
Partially seal the bag and gently squeeze the excess air out. You are going to want to get as much air out as possible.
Then seal your squish bag completely. For extra security tape that bag closed!
Now SQUISH!
The soap will bubble and foam as your child squeezes and presses the pom-poms around their squish bag. Experiment with moving the pom-poms around the bag. Talk about the various sensory experiences your child is experiencing – scent, touch, sight…
Other topics that can be discussed are:
- Can you sort pom-poms by color/size?
- How many “choose color” pom-poms are there?
- Are there more of this color or that color?
Super simple fun that is easy to take on the go!
