Shaving Cream Clouds on a Mirror

Shaving Cream Clouds on a Mirror

Every day we head to the park, even if it is only for 10 minutes. It’s a simple ritual that I greatly enjoy. A brief time of silence as the kids run around and have fun. The other day while we were at the park Meatball noticed a couple grey clouds. Not being able to verbalize what he was seeing, he acted it out until I understood. Following his curiosity we decided on painting shaving cream clouds once we got home.

Shaving Cream Clouds on a Mirror

This activity turned out to be so much more fun than I expected. In the past we have had a ton of fun playing with shaving cream but, quite honestly I expected this activity to not hold his attention for that long being outside and all. If given the choice Meatball is not one to pick sedentary activities outdoors…but leave it to him, this one definitely was not what I expected it to be.

Painting with Water Beads!

Painting with Water Beads

Water Beads are by far one of my kids favorite sensory materials. The ways that you can play with water beads are endless and they are cheap! We have tried everything from adding scents to our water beads to freezing them! Our lesson this week had a craft that required Marbles and Paint to do it. While we had the paint, we did not have any marbles lying around. But…we did have water beads! We had an absolute blast with this substitution – Painting with Water Beads was a major hit!

What I loved about this activity is that while it was very messy, it was super adaptable to meet the needs of both of my kids!

Dinosaur Stomp Painting: Printing and Finger Painting for Kids

This week while we have been exploring Dinosaurs I knew I wanted to do something to tie in some art projects. It seems like we have been on a pretty strong science kick lately and haven’t done much for arts-n-crafts. I just honestly have not wanted to take the time to set up a craft activity– lazy I know. Then I came across this dinosaur painting activity and knew it was something simple that we could easily do!

Meatball is absolutely loving the whole dinosaur theme — we have them driving cars, taking baths, eating spaghetti…they have become one of his can’t put them down right now toys. So today we painted with dinosaurs.

It turned out pretty awesome! Gotta love simple fun!

Valentine’s Day Cookie Cutter Stamping

Valentine's Day Cookie Cutter Stamping

Cookie Cutter Stamping: A simple way to add in a process art activity for Valentine’s Day. This activity is a great way to explore different textures and color mixing! It can get a tad messy, but we promise you it’s worth it!

Valentine's Day Cookie Cutter Stamping One of my favorite investments from my teaching days was a kit of 101 Cookie Cutters. The kit came with letters, numbers, seasons, animals, holidays, sports…you name it, it had it. We have used these cookies cutters for an array of activities from arts-n-crafts to sensory play and everything in between. I seriously have a love affair with these things!
